I've Decided to change the style of my blog to a an outdoor adventure and feature writing blog. Most of my posts will be fishing/hiking/camping/hunting related and are intended to be in a creative writing format.

Student Observation

I am no scientist. At least to say I do not hold a degree of credibility based on the fact that I do not hold a degree at all. I am not blind to the fact that though I may say, or write and idea, or theory of some scientific relevance, or controversy, that it will remain nothing to those whose degree gives them the final opinion on the topic. But just in case there is a man, or woman with some scientific credibility willing to look through the lenses of their own personal microscopes and analyse sounds through fluid and tissue, I offer this:

I like to think there is a simple solution:
Whether God, or Chaos
Created in an Almighty power,
The ecosystems that we recognize today,
The concepts of existence
In the most intricate of detail.
An artistic evolution
Within the most delicate of spheres,
We must recognize the one truth
That will forever be a constant.
Every living organism's mistakes
Benefit another in a positive way
...Save ours.

Finally Returning

WOW! I think after such a long while away from my blog it is about time for some new material. Especially since my good friend Joe Parker has sparked my interests again with his new found philosophies in the job market and more specifically in an approach to life. Nice work man and thanks for getting me back on track.

A Game of Cat & Mouse

Something caught my eye as I walked.

A gray, near white form

Against the dark winter road.

A cat, chasing a mouse. perhaps

More eager for a playmate than a meal.

Pouncing and gracefully shifting his weight,

Often over pursuing his new friend.

I could not see the small rodent.

The road and shadows too dark.

I knew only of his evasive movements,

How terrified he must have been.

Attempting to avoid an almost certain death

Dragged on by the anticipation of claws

And then sharp teeth into the back of his neck.

Meanwhile I watch as the ballet of life continues.

Carefully orchestrated movements,

No dance class, or instructor could teach.

Innate abilities, built in to counter each others

Moves and thoughts, sizes and instincts.

Up and over the snow bank in one final culmination.

I approach slowly, expecting the mouse

To look for me as I pass, hoping I will save him.

The cat too, glaring at me, as if to say,

“Humans have tampered enough

With the balances of nature.”

I arrive at the site where I once pictured a stage,

Friends and enemies alike,

Incapable of a less dramatic performance.

I peer slowly over the bank.

There they are, stuck on a broken branch

Of a small roadside spruce,

A white plastic shopping bag

Had been blowing in the wind.
